Ten Facts about US Orthodox Churches from the FACT study

The workshop will utilize new - never published or discussed - data on US Orthodox parishes in general and AOCA churches in particular. These data are from the FACT survey (Faith Communities Today) which was major US national interdenominational survey in which three Orthodox churches participated: GOA, OCA and AOCA. In the case of AOCA, about 100 parishes participated and completed extensive questionnaires reflecting on various aspects of the local parish life.

SaGE: Teaching Youth about Sex in our Parishes

The "SaGE: Sex and God Education" program has been developed at St Elijah parish over the past three years. It is an attempt to speak candidly, positively and engagingly with our pre-teens and teens about puberty and sex from the Church's perspective. This is a workshop for clergy and other adults, to explain this program and help you adapt it for use in your parish.

Choir Workshop

The Choir Workshop, in conjunction with the Choir Rehearsals each day of the PLC, brings choral singers from parishes and missions throughout the Diocese together to form one choir. The conference theme, "The Bible fills us with eternal joy", is used to select music to be sung at the Grand Banquet Choir Festival. Participants will learn to sing together as one voice, proclaiming God's praises at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the Choir Festival.

Chanters Workshop

The Chanter's Workshop is a one-hour quick review of elementary Byzantine chant, which will include particular attention to one of the 8 modes, including musical examples. The first half will be didactic and the second half will be practical, with time reserved for questions and answers.
